Recently in the mornings I have been practicing basketball in the gym. When I was a high school student I loved playing basketball, but I could never play on a team because my house was too far away from the school. There was only one school bus home per day, so I didn’t have time for practice.

Now I am trying to remember how to shoot a basketball properly. Every time I shoot I try to keep some rules in my head.
1. Balance, stand on the front of my feet.
2. Elbow in, line up my eyes, the ball, and the basket.
3. Jump to give my shot power.
4. Arc the ball up and in, don’t shoot it straight.
5. Follow through and be relaxed.

A good shot that follows these rules looks like this:
When you hear the ball snap through the net, it is very satisfying. However, I have a problem. After two or three baskets in a row, I stop thinking about how to shoot, and I start worrying about making the basket. I get careless, and make a mistake (usually 4, not giving the ball enough arc).

A good player has consistency, which means they can have the same form again and again. Of course, they sometimes miss, but their overall percentage stays high. Think about studying in the same way. If you study consistently, and follow the same pattern each time, you will keep a high percentage. However, if you study too hard one day, and relax the next day, your results will not be good.

Today is day 4 of your final tests. Have you been consistent since school started? If so, I think you will have no problem today. If not, now is the time to start. Good luck.
