It was a great day for first year Shin-Ai students.
We divided into groups and went out to do our fieldwork. My group went to Wakayama Medical University Hospital. It was my first time there, and I was so impressed with the facility.
One of our aims was to see the ‘Doctor Helicopter’, which is famous. It can fly to anywhere in Wakayama prefecture in 30 minutes to save people. But just when we arrived to see it, the helicopter flew away because of an emergency. Too bad.
But we were still able to get a tour of the library and enjoy the Medical Skills Laboratory. We could use some of the tools and equipment, like the stethoscope (聴診器) and listen to the heartbeat of a patient doll. It was so cool!
And we received a lecture from the head of the hospital, Dr Ueno. We learned a lot about maintaining good health, and he helped us think about some of the medical and health problems in Wakayama prefecture.
It was a great learning experience. Yay!
