A Nice Surprise – Jan. 2024

Hello everyone,

Today at school we had a nice surprise as Mr. Batbold (バトボルド), from the drama VIVANT, visited our school. We all gathered in the gym to greet him in Mongolian (Сайн уу) and listen to his message.

Almost one year ago, on February 6th 2023, there were numerous large earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. In response, Professor Akiyama from Wakayama University and Mr. Batbold thought of a plan to help. They raised money to send some Ger, or Mongolian tents, to provide shelter to people who had lost their homes. Because of our generosity, we raised more than 140,000 yen.

In our lives we are often asked to give money for a cause. Recently we donated money for victims of the Ishikawa earthquake. It is rare, however, that we see the results of our fundraising. The money, we imagine, goes to a good cause, but we can’t see the end result. That is why today was so important. We could see the results of our efforts face to face. I hope that encourages everyone to become more involved in efforts that go toward improving the lives of everyone, both at home and abroad.

Thank you Mr. Akiyama for another wonderful experience!
