Hello everyone!

I hope you enjoyed your summer vacation. On Thursday we came back for opening ceremony, and yesterday was the first day of lessons. Many comments on my students’ daily diary were “I can’t believe we had 7 lessons on the first day back…” I felt the same way a little! But today is a short day, tomorrow is Sunday, and we can all get ready for next week.

During the summer I went back to Canada with my son. We went to many different places, saw many different things, and, most importantly, ate many different foods. Sometimes he missed Japanese food, so we went to some Japanese restaurants. Japanese restaurants in Canada have sushi, of course, and while some of it looks like Japanese sushi, some of looks very different.

This is a “kari kari roll”. It has crab, avocado, spicy mayo, and is fried like tempura. Crunchy and delicious!

Here is a bento box. It has a california roll, which is also crab and avocado, with wasabi mayo dressing on top. It is the most popular roll, I think.
