Hello everyone,
Today was my turn to give the bible talk today. I chose a really short passage, but there is a nice story behind it. I hope you enjoyed it, and here it is if you want to read it again.
Good morning. Today’s reading is Psalm 29: 11. 11 The LORD gives strength to his people;
The LORD blesses his people with peace.
H1 students, M1 students, you have now been at Shin-ai for almost two months. I think you have experienced many new things such as the school festival and Mary’s mass. It may be difficult at first, but you will soon get used to it. When I first came to Shin-ai as a teacher, there were many new things for me to learn as well! I have a memory of my first mass. I was trying to follow the priest and reply at the right places. Unfortunately, I soon became lost.
Then, during the mass, people turned to each other and offered peace. I knew this part! It was the same as when I was at church in Canada! I was happy and relieved to find something I knew.
Jesus said in the bible “Peace be with you” many times. You can find it in Luke 24:36 and John 20:19. In my church in Canada, we looked at the people around us, and said “Peace be with you.” They answered, “and also with you.” It was a way for everyone at church to connect with each other.
Now, in my class at Shin-ai, that is how we say goodbye at the end of the day. We look at our friends and wish them peace. That is a warm feeling to take home with us at the end of each day.
