Hello everyone,
Yesterday I told you about the potato problem in Japan which was caused by the storms in Canada. Today I will tell you about one more problem from those storms.
A barge, a ship that has many containers on it, was pushed onto the beach by the wind and waves. After the storm was over, the barge was stuck! The owners have tried to move it several times, but it is very heavy. So, until there is a solution, it is just hanging out on the beach.
Local people have found the “silver lining” to this problem. A silver lining means the positive part of a bad thing. Many people have gone to take pictures and selfies with the barge. We don’t know how long it will be there, so they want to make a memory.
I went there on my trip and saw it with my mother. I was happy that the barge was on the beach, and that it didn’t hit one of the many old bridges that cross the river. You probably remember what happened to the Kansai Airport bridge a couple years ago…
Hopefully there are less surprises and more potatoes in our future! See you next week.
