Good morning everyone,
When we think of famous places in Wakayama, what comes to mind? Adventure World, Wakayama Castle, Nachi Waterfall… these are places I have been many times.
But, Wakayama also has many “hidden gems”. A hidden gem is something special that not many people know about. A natural hot spring in the forest, a private beach nobody goes to, or… a temple in the mountains.
Decently Terasaka-sensei was telling me about one of these “hidden gems”. She said that Mr. Morikawa, our math teacher, had been there. It is called Hogi Hogi Shrine. Located in the mountains between Kainan and Arida, Hogi Hogi Shrine is a place for people who want to… win the lottery? Really?
According to the homepage of the shrine, this is a power spot for people who have bought a ticket for the lottery. You can buy a charm, make a wish, leave an old wallet, and, when you touch the power stone, say “Hogi Hogi” three times in your heart.
Does it work? I don’t know! But if I am driving a new car to school next year, you will know the answer!
So, what is your “hidden gem” in Wakayama? Please let me know!
