Hello everyone,
For the past several months, I have been meeting with a student once a week for some extra English practice. We are reading the book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” together, taking turns reading out loud, sentence by sentence. We read, on average, a chapter a week.
When we first started I thought the pace was too slow. “How can we get through the story?” I asked myself. “Isn’t she going to get bored?” Sometimes we couldn’t meet during the holidays, or we were busy during tests. I thought maybe that this idea would slowly stop.
However, she continued, and when we met last week I realized that we were almost finished! (If you know the story, the spoiled rich girl has just been thrown in the garbage chute, and we are about to enter the great glass elevator). With just a few more sessions, we will have finished reading this book.
We all have busy days, lazy days, happy days, and sad days. Everybody has their ups and downs. But, if we stay consistant in reaching our goals, we will be there before we know it. You may not inherit a chocolate factory in your story, but there are other things that will be important for you to achieve. Good luck, and do your best day by day, chapter by chapter.
